ETS can supply experienced engineers to work closely with your teams to provide support for Infrastructure or databases. This can either be on premise or remote support. Solutions can be catered for any organisations needs.

Managed Infrastructure

The service can be done onsite or remotely. The ETS engineer would perform daily / weekly connect to the required environment – and perform a series of tasks required to ensure stability / patch levels / daily tasks and compliance. Some of these tasks are as follows:

  • Operational user support: provide ad hoc operational support (e.g. filesystems management, user management, etc.) for business as usual “BAU” system operations.

  • Availability and incident management: Provide second level support to ensure availability and physical integrity.

  • Maintenance: assist with installing any critical System patches (Linux, OVM, ODA) and performing any maintenance require for sustained performance and availability. Maintenance affecting system availability will be agreed with Customer at least 1 week in advance.  Quarterly and/or bi-quarterly patching cycles will be done according to agreed-upon schedules.

  • User and Data Security: adhere to the user and data security polices of the Customer, as provided by the Customer

  • Capacity Management: Monitor and advise on capacity usage of the systems

  • Reporting: report on the health of the different environments at agreed upon frequencies (daily/weekly/monthly).

  • Backups and Restores: The System Engineer can assist the Customer Backup Administrator in configuring and monitoring the Database backups and restores  (however, the Customer is responsible for the Backup environment)

  • General health check:

      • Scheduled Physical inspections at agreed upon times (travel may be costed separately).
      • Configure ASR (automatic service request) on Oracle supported hardware
      • Collecting of system information via Oracle provided software tools (eg Explorer)
      • Checking of system recommended and security patches against Oracle best practices
      • Assist with and track Services Requests logged with Oracle

  • Oracle Solaris, Oracle Linux
  • Oracle Virtual Machine for SPARC & X86
  • Oracle Hardware (server and storage)
  • Oracle Engineered Systems (Exadata, Oracle Databse Appliance, Oracle Private Cloud Appliance)

  • Database operational user support: provide ad hoc operational support (e.g. tablespace allocations, user management, index creation, etc.) for business as usual “BAU” database operations.

  • Availability and incident management: Provide second level support to ensure availability, physical integrity and recoverability of data.

  • Database maintenance: assist with installing any critical database patches and performing any maintenance require for sustained performance and availability. Database maintenance affecting database availability will be agreed with Customer at least 1 week in advance.  Quarterly and/or bi-quarterly patching cycles will be done according to agreed upon schedules.

  • User and Data Security:  adhere to the user and data security polices of the Customer, as provided by the Customer

  • Capacity Management: Monitor and advise on capacity usage of the Database

The service can be done onsite or remotely. The ETS engineer would advise the required customer staff on which tasks and / or activities are required to be performed to achieve a desired outcome. Some of these tasks are as follows:

  • What-works-with-what. Verify configurations for software and hardware on the Oracle stack

  • Best practice and industry standards around Maximum Availability Architecture

  • Go-life checks for pre-production and production environments.
